Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient establishing and maintaining of maintenance management systems for mechanical plant and equipment including:

accessing, interpreting and applying technical information

assessing risks and consequences of mechanical systems

developing procedures for management of mechanical maintenance systems

applying information management systems managing work in confined spaces

works effectively with others to establish and maintain maintenance management systems for mechanical plant and equipment that meets all the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to coordinate work activities

preparing written reports communicating policies and procedures

demonstrates completion of establishing and maintaining maintenance management systems for mechanical plant and equipement that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

planning and coordinating work activities

interpreting manufacturer’s instructions

facilitating communication meetings

analysing mechanical maintenance data

identifying training needs and preparing training plans

surveying maintenance

implementing and auditing maintenance management systems


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in establishing and maintaining a maintenance management system for mechanical plant and equipment through:

accessing, interpreting and applying legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

hazard and risk identification and management

statutory compliance

work health and safety

environmental issues

policy management

equipment maintenance

maintenance programs planning techniques

providing leadership in the workplace

interpreting specifications from mechanical systems

applying workplace training methods

accessing and interpreting maintenance surveys

work role definitions

alternative documentation systems for procedures
